Haynes is a prominent farmer of Richmond township and now (April 1881) hols the office of public administrator of Ray Co. He was born 20 Aug 1816 in Murry Co. Tenn. His parents were natives of North Carolina. When he was yet quite young, his father moved from Murray to Bedford Co. Tenn, but remaining there only for a time, immagrated to Ray Co. Mo. settling in the township in which our subject has ever since lived. Mr Haynes education was finished in the school of Ray Co. Farming has been his cheif occupation. His father died in 1862 at the age of 75, his mother lived until 1880, when she died at the age of 89 years. Mr Haynes ia of a quiet peaceful disposition and has never taken any part int he war-like movements, except for a shrot time against the Mormons, in this county. He was married 1 Nov 1841 to Miss Jane Schooler, a native of Tenn. They were married in Ray co. They had 6 children, Joseph H, George R. James H. Rosabelle J, Mary E, M, and John A. Mr Hay! nes was elected justice of the peace in 1854 and hedl that office for eleven years. He is a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
