    2. My father was born in Elkhorn and it was an area located between Excelsior Springs and Richmond on Highway 10. If memory serves me correctly the highway made a curve there and of course today it probably have changed as I haven't been on that road for a long time.

Nothing was turned up, even though the SS Death Index, indicated that Virgil's last residence was in Kansas City, in Jackson County. We have found nothing for his wife, Paulina. I am assuming that she died before the records that are available on-line. We've hit dead end after dead end. My half- brother and half-sister never saw Danny. Bob and his mother, Rose Etta Wall were living in Kansas City when he was born. The rest of the family was living in Florida. The only picture known to be Danny is one when he was still an infant, about six months old. Bob joined the Army in Aug. 1947. He and Rose Etta were divorced about that time. My half- sibling's mother died in October before Bob died in December of 1951. Both of them moved frequently, and didn't have Rose Etta's address. The last known address was for Danny in care of Virgil in 1949. It was in Kansas City. This was on Bob's military records for pay and insurance purposes. Thank you for any assistance you might be able to give. We are grasping at straws and their all pretty short. Becky Boggs Vincent

    3. Below are parts of a history book and a will. It says the mill was located in Elkhorn. I assume that was the name of the town, but cannot find it on the map. Does anyone know where Elkhorn and/or the mills were located? Thank You, Kay Johnston Tucker -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Alexander Ogg III, along with two of his brothers, Thomas Jeptha Ogg and Napoleon Boneparte Ogg, left Kentucky in 1868 and settled in Ray County, Missouri. They all had farm land and were all owners of a grist-mill and saw-mill. Obituary: We are pained to announce the death of our close personal fried, William A. Ogg, which occured Saturday afternoon last, at his farm near Storm's school house, 10 miles southwest of Richmond. the deceased was 60 years old and a native of Madison County, Kentucky, where we first knew him nearly 35 years ago. He married Lizzie Duerson, a playmate of our youth, who with 8 children survive him, 4 boys and 4 girls, all about grown. Mr. Ogg was member of the Christian Church and an ernest, consistent christian man, one who was well liked by a large circle of friends, and whose loss will be keenly felt, not only by his family, but by the entire neighborhood. He came to Missouri in 1875, and was connected with his brother Jeptha for awhile in the mill in Elkhorn. He then purchased and moved to the farm where he died. His remains were laid to rest at South Point burying ground in the presence of a large circle of mourners. A good man, a kind father, a loving husband, and a christian man, thus he sleeps his last sleep.

    2. My daughter-inlaw is Danny Boggs Winders half-brother. Their grandfather I believe is buried in Hardin, Missouri. I know they were living in Kansas City at the time and had for sometime. He had a brother I believe by the name of Price and he lived in Richmond, Mo. By the way Danny is a fantastic gentleman and I love him like a son just as I do all his siblings and they treat me like a 2nd Mom. My husband went to school with both my DIL's parents. I hope this information helps you.

    3. David Snowden, son of James Snowden, Sr. married my ggrandfather's older sister, Nancy Crosswhite Ball. Her brother's (Elijah Daily Ball) descendants also went to Fannin Co TX. I share info w/Virginia Ball McNeill in Denton TX who is one of his descendants. I have some info on the Snowden family. Will check & get back with you on what I might have on Samuel. Crooked River drains a very large watershed extending into Caldwell County where the Mormons started building a temple at Far West. That is why a great deal of the conflict took place there. Shirley Hello, I am researching the Snowden family of Ray Co., MO. I have a "brick wall" with my great grandfather, Sam Samuel Snowden dob: 02/18/1854. In 1850 MO census, Ray Co. I find Love Snowden, Charlotte (Noe?) Calvin 5, Daniel D. 4, and Martha M. 2. My research indicates at age 5, he is with Lovell (Love) Snowden (entered as SNOWDER) in 1860 Fannin Co, TX, Sam born in MO. Lovell but no wife listed ,with children(Calvin 15, Daniel 14, Martha M 12 and Sam'l 5) are neighbors of Burton H. and Mary J. Snowden in TX. I next find Sam Samuel back in MO in 1870, living with DeMasters family. I am having a hard time figuring out who his parents were. Since the Civil War didn't start until 1861, Love could be his father but the siblings listed in the census, Calvin, Daniel, Martha don't match the family history. The family story is he was named after his father. His mother died shortly after giving birth to a girl, who also died. Sam Samuel and his brother lived with their father on a farm until one day Yankees came and took the father over a hill and shot him. Sam and his brother then went to live with an Uncle and his family until Sam was about 15 or 16 and he rode to Texas. I have discovered that Love was a Yankee in the Missouri Militia, 51st Reg't. E.M.M. as well as Calvin and Burton Snowden, so why would Yankees shoot him? I also have Snowdens in the Mormon War but don't know exact relationships to above. If Lovell was a Yankee then I guess the family history is wrong or Love/Lovell was his uncle? If anyone is working on this line, I would sure appreciate some help. Also just curious about the Noe and Brewer families in same time period who intermarried with Snowdens. I don't know if Crooked River was a Mormon settlement but seems to be a lot of conflict. Any help with Ray Co. history lessons welcomed. Thank you in advance. Judy Snowden Judy Mcneese
