I did know about some of this including the connection to the Fords but was really stumped on who Martha married, where & when and I didn't know about Delia's 4th child, only the three mentioned in the Census. Jossie was my great-grandmother and what a character she was. We all called her Nanna. She had changed her name to Jeanne many many years ago. You've been a BIG help. Thanks again! Now if I can only find out what happed to Tom. Nanna never mentioned him to me or to my mother or my only living aunt on that side of the family. If anyone out there knows and see this, please post me a mesaage!

I found an Elkana Adams in Richmond Twp, Ray County, MO on the 1870. He was listed as male with parents, Thomas and Sarah and six siblings. This Elkana was 7 years old. He and one other sibling were shown as being born in Kansas. Everyone else in the household was shown as being born in Missouri. I found this family living in Leavenworth County, Kansas on the 1880 census. This time, Elkana was listed as a 16 year old female. If you check the LDS site at familysearch.com and do a search for a Elkana Adams, you will see that someone else has drawn this same conclusion probably based on the census. I hope this helps you. I find in 1920 census of Shelby County (Clay Township) MO enumerated on 9th Jan 1920 the following: Joseph Jones Age 76 Born MO Farmer Both Parents born MO Ella Mary Jones Wife Age 17 Born MO Father born IL, Mother born MO. Also in same census, same county and township are: G.B. Broomfield Age 39 and wife, Annie, Age 46. Annie born MO and both parents born MO, however shows G.B. as being born in MO instead of IL and both his parents born MO. Could be something to check out. I am just starting on our family genealogy and have come across the Fords in clippings passed down from my Great Grandmother. No photo's tho. I don't know if you've found anything about Elias but if you have I would love to hear it. From what I've found in the Census and from the newspapers clippings he was brother to Bob and Charley Ford. According to family stories (and backed up somewhat by the news clippings) we are descended from their sister Martha (Ford) Bolton who kept house for him around 1880. He, along with other members of that family had to testify at Frank James' trial and that can be found on the web at civilwarsstlouis.com (I think).
