    3. Jane, I do have Mary Jane (Vanhoozer) Smith in my files. I only have an approx. birth date pulled from the 1880 census, and her marriage. I have more info on her parents, Alfred and Catherine (O'Dell) Vanhoozer, who are buried at O'Dell cemetery. Nancy Emmoline was Mary Jane's half-sister. Nancy's mother, Jane O'Dell, was Alfred's first wife. Jane died in 1858, and Alfred married Catherine in 1860. Jane and Catherine were first cousins - Jane's father was Simon and Catherine's father was Wm. Riley O'Dell, Sr., both sons of pioneer Isaac O'Dell. (My great-grandmother, Sarah Frances O'Dell, was Catherine's sister). I'd be interested in any info you have on Mary Jane, and would be glad to share whatever else I know about her family that would interest you. Cheryl

    2. Cheryl, I wonder if you have any knowledge of a Mary Jane Vanhoozer who married Luther G. Smith in Ray County on 20 Dec 1888? Mary Jane and Luther had three children: Carl Clifford (b. 1889), Clarence N. (b. 1894), and Minnie (b. ?1891). Is it possible that Mary Jane was a sister to Mrs. J. C. Laster? Thanks, Jane

    1. Re: [MORAY-CGA] Question
    2. Sue Alexander
    3. Camille: Cemetery information is considered a form of verification of death and any dates, and other information on the headstone. However, you cannot always rely on this info. ie: my grandmother had grandpa's and her stone installed at time of his death. when she died no one had her death engraved for several years. then my aunt had it done. WELL, low and behold with the wrong year.. Often time the cemetery will indicate the lacality where they lived and sometimes give clue to the wifes' family. Cemeteries are a very important search tool....good luck, Sue ----- Original Message ----- From: Sowells, Camille <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2001 10:16 AM Subject: [MORAY-CGA] Question > Good morning all, > > I know this may be a dumb question, but can someone tell me what kind of > information can you get from a cemetery - if you know the location of the > grave, but the headstone is missing or if there is just a general marker > that says Pugh family plot for example?
