    1. [MORAY-CGA] Ellen FIELDS divorce and remarriage to J.T. Mathena
    2. Donna Springer
    3. Hello List. I need to know if there is a divorce for Ellen FIELDS from John C. FIELDS. It would be between 1881 and 1885. My great grandmother Priscilla Ellen Bales married John C. Fields in 1872. Her youngest son was born in 1881. The 1900 Richmond, Ray, MO census does not have her listed with the family and there appears to be a mark in the -divorced- column for John. In the Ray County Marriage book I found a license being granted for an Ellen Fields to J.T. Mathena, 23 Jan 1886. I am wondering if she is the same Ellen and married again. Is there anyone on the list who is descended from any MATHENA who could help me with this question? Donna

    1. [MORAY-CGA] Black Hawk War
    2. Shirleyb
    3. According to "History of Ray County, Missouri" by James W. Black, in 1832, Ray county furnished one company led by Capt. John Sconce & later Capt. Wm. Pollard marched to the northern portion of the state & then east to the Grand River county to prevent incursion of Black Hawk's men into this state & to quiet the Indians then inhabiting what was called the "Platte Purchase" & other Indians to the north. My question: Does anyone know of the existence of any papers (letters, orders, reports, rosters, etc) regarding this action. Family history states that Joseph H. Ball was involved in the Black Hawk War. He was in Ray county at the right time, but I can find no proof that he was part of this company. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to look?

Mar, 1871 to John Calvin BALES and Mary Clarinda JACOBS. I do not have a husband for her, but she could be the person you are looking for. The latest Ray County Reflections did have a newspaper article pertaining to the 50th Wedding anniversary of John and Mary BALES. The daughters are listed as Mrs. Fannie CARTER (my ancestor), Mrs. H. M. BURTON, Mrs. Mary C. LINVILLE, Mrs. William F. SUITS, all of Richmond, and Mrs. James B. MARTIN of Kansas City. So no BABER is listed. Hope this helps, Carter Rogers

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XNB.2ACI/425 Message Board Post: I am seeking an old Bible which after being given into the care of a relative has been lost. I have never seen it, have only just found who the last owner was and the fact that it had been lost. It will (I believe) contain predominantly the surname of JOY, along with GREY and possibly WARDNER and VINEY. Given names should include: Frederick, Jasper, Thomas, James Grey, Charlotte, Stephen, Sybil and possibly John Wardner. Places in it would possibly include: England and Missouri. I am a direct descendent of these JOYs and have been working several years on this particular JOY line and would be most grateful if anyone would be able to help me to locate the old family Bible. I believe that it would have been lost in Mo. or Colo. probably. Thank you all, Pat, in Oregon
