    1. Re: [MORAY-CGA] William & Elizabeth BUSH
    2. Carter and Bev Rogers
    3. I checked your notes pertaining to William and Elizabeth BUSH. They were buried in Richmond (City) Cemetery, not the Old City Cemetery. Unfortunately, there has been some confusion pertaining to cemetery names over the years. According to the 1971 History of Ray County, Old City Cemetery is one of the names of the Mormon or the Pioneer Cemetery. The Mormon, or Pioneer, or Old City Cemetery, is the only cemetery that was the property of the City of Richmond (to my knowledge). The Richmond (City) Cemetery, where the BUSHs are buried, is a private cemetery. Many of the newspaper obituaries used the term City Cemetery when referring to the Richmond Cemetery, hence much of the confusion. The Mormon, or Pioneer Cemetery, or Old City Cemetery is indeed older than the Richmond Cemetery. In order to clarify the name of Richmond Cemetery in the future, it is my understanding that the cemetery board is in the process of getting a permanent sign erected at the site to clearly show the name Richmond Cemetery. There has never been a sign for as long as I can remember (in excess of 50 years). I did not find a burial site for James T. BUSH in the Richmond Cemetery nor in any cemetery in Ray County with transcribed burial markers (i.e., in digital form). I did find an Alice BUSH buried in Camden City Cemetery.
