Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XNB.2ACI/728 Message Board Post: Would someone help me establish the original location of Marion Township, Ray Co., MO. Marion was created about 1836 and was apparently phased out later. One of my ancestors was enumerated in Ray Co in 1840 in Marion Twnshp and I would like to know the approximate location in the county. Thanks for any help you can give.

    1. RE: [MORAY-CGA] Allen family in Ray County
    2. In the 1881 Ray Co History Book for Ray Co Mo I found the following Abraham Allen b in Ray Co Mo 4 Sept 1827. He is the son of Ruben and Thoda Allen natives of Tenn. He married Martha Tucker in 4 Sept 1859 native of Va. dau of John W Tucker and Nancy Tucker. they had four children: Elizabeth J b 13 Dec 1864 Jessie T b 27 Aug 1867 John W b 29 June 1870 Katie S b 9 Nov 1872 That is the only Allen in the bio section of the book. It might help you straighten them out later on. I do have Allen in my line, but my computor is down and I have no way to check them out. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XNB.2ACI/727 Message Board Post: I still have not been able to ascertain a listing of those buried in the Old Union Christian Union cemetery near Rayville. A distant cousin of mine told me he recalled visiting an anscestor's grave there several, several years ago. We seached the entire cemetery and could not find a headstone for the Minerva (Marley) Fuller we were looking for. Minerva died in 1921. She and her family are listed as being in St. Joseph during the 1920 census. However, she & her family had connections to the Ray/Clay county area. I'm trying to find a place of burial for her and a more specific date of death. A listing of those buried in the Old Union Cemetery would either confirm or rule out her burial there. Does anyone have info that may help?

    3. This is just a message to all who need free access to census images. Most larger public libraries subscribe to "Heritage Quest" where most census years are available. These can normally be accessed from home using your library card number. Other important databases are also available. Heritage Quest itself is more than just Census images. In the Kansas City Metropolitan area the library database URL is http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/reference/title.cfm?id=2 Then scroll down to Heritage Quest and click the link which will take you to the login link: Databases <http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/reference/> > Remote Login "Heritage Quest" Other important links. http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/reference/ http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/Links/Arts_and_Humanities/Genealogy/Databases/ Shirley

    3. Would your James Madison Allen be the one who was married to Sarah Frakes? If so then I have traced that line back to 1740. Actually my grandmother and her sisters did. The James Madison Allen I have was married to a Sarah Frakes and was born in Newport Tennessee. Is he the same person as your James Madison Allen? Let me know and I will be happy to send you information about these Allen's. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Allen [mailto:jeallen@bendcable.com] Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2004 10:54 PM To: MORAY-CGA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MORAY-CGA] Allen family in Ray County Searching for information on the Allen family who are in the 1830 census in Ray County. 3. Hello, you two researchers. I saw the post and also found the 2 census sheets. (Great minds think alike!) I downloaded both images (pdf format) and put them on a server. Go here: http://homepage.mac.com/blueoak/hoorah4me193.html and follow the directions. Edward Lawrence Fuller was born June 21, 1877 in Winston, MO, the s/o Theo and Susan Fuller of Plattsburg, MO. He married Minerva Margaret (Marley) in Buchanan County, St. Joseph, MO on May 12, 1912. Together, Edward & Minerva had two daughters, Velma Juanita & Edna Lavieta, both of which were born in St. Joseph, MO. Minerva died sometime in 1921. The girls were placed in an orphanage in St. Joseph after thier mother's death. However, both Edward & Minerva had family connections to the Ray/Clay county area of Missouri as well. If she can be located in the 1920 census, I may be able to pinpoint her place of death/burial in order to get a death ceritificate as my info on her is very limited.

The 1920 census is indexed by head of household, so if they were living with another family their names will not appear in the index. Do you have other information which would help in the search? It's also possible that they were not enumerated. I have been looking for relatives in the 1920 Ray county census and they are nowhere to be found.

    2. Craven Cemetery: I spoke with Mary Lou Atwood (her Mother was a Smithey) the other day. She says that Jehue is buried in Craven and the stone was there in the 1970's. It may have fallen and covered with grass. I hope that is true. She said she would take me there and we would check the area. Susan and Granville are buried there. Jehu and Judith Bond: I have a clipping (The Anderson News, Lawrenceburg Ky) from the Woodford Co Historical library that states that Jehue Eaton m. Judith Bond in 1837. She was the dau of James Bond. "Judith Eaton by will in 1864 left her property to Jehu, her husband, making no mention of children. She left one bedstead and covers to Betty Lyons for kindness shown Judith during her last illness. Judith Eaton (1817-1864) and May Eaton, presumably a daughter of Judith (1845-1852) are buried at Salt River." Susan Mosby: Marriage consent of Jannett Mosby "my daughter Suzsan.......to Gahu Eaton."
