Hello Chris, I've not long found the family of James STRACHAN & Mary McPHERSON (b abt 1853 Grange), who married 20 Nov 1874 Grange, when her parents are given as William McPHERSON & Isabella RUSSELL. I know of three children: Hellen Isabella STRACHAN born about 1876 in Petty, Inverness. Alexander James STRACHAN born about 1877 in Elgin. George Geddes STRACHAN born about 1879 in Elgin James STRACHAN was born 23 Sep 1843 in Fordyce, and died 26 Oct 1899 in Alma Place. Elgin. He was the illeg son of William STRACHAN & Helen GARDEN / GARDINER. Isabella RUSSEL is in Elgin in 1891 as Isabella McPHERSON age 74 b Keith, with grandson Alexander STRACHAN. William STRACHAN, farmer and 'landed proprietor' at Balmaud, links into my CLARKs from Raemore, Deskford, via his mother Agnes CLARK. Helen GARDEN's sister Elizabeth GARDEN was married to George GEDDES of Newton, Fordyce. The surname changed from GARDEN to GARDINER around 1850 or so. [If Harry Montogomery is still Listing, their brother Alexander GARDEN is one of yours.] Mary McPHERSON was at 'Roehill Grange' in 1874 - possibly where the family lived. Might this actually be Rosehill where my SMITHs were in the 1810s - have you any SMITHs appearing in your McPHERSONs, as witnesses for example? Also, I've got a bunch of McPHERSONs from Grange going back to Alexander McPHERSON (Drumongrain, Inveravon) & Isobel BRUCE (Crannach, Grange who is one of mine as well). It would be nice to link Isabella RUSSEL's William McPHERSON with these others. I've got the detail of the above. Have you more on the STRACHAN/McPHERSON family? Howard Geddes
