Hi All, I am looking for a death date and certificate for my husbands GGrandmother who died between 1851-1854. I just miss out with Scotlandspeople which start at 1855. Is there a CD out or do the library's have anything that might be able to help. Thanks in advance. Regards, Alison Hill NZ
You won't get it.......where was she when she died?.......you need the film for that area, and YOU might get lucky and find some mort cloth/bell rentals on it.....which would give you the date of the rental. It's been my experience they weren't held long, so likely two days back would be the ABT time of death. Would be nice if we could ask for what isn't there, lots of us would jump on the wagon!! BEFORE 1855 is not a possibility for a cert., after would be more probable. Go with the flow and accept the '51 census and run with that, or a cert for one of her children AFTER '55. About Registrations for Morayshire - the FHC near where I live has the Death Registrations on microfilm for Morayshire [all parishes] for 1855-1875 plus the 2 single years of 1881 and 1891. Only those 23 years of Registrations, but if you find any [Birth, Marriage or Death] write to me on or off list and I'll send the details. Need a name, a parish and a date [or expected date] Hope for an 1855 event, they were the very best for information. Use the IGI as a guideline for Births and Marriages.
