Thanks to all that have repiled to my message yesterday. The map was fascinating! History of the area amazing, might try and get the book as I love the social history aspect of my hobby as well!   I have looked on GRO Scotland site and yes they were both prisoners... I had wondered if this was a branch of the workhouse and they were just inmates. Going to get some more information as suggested from Elgin Local Studies! Thanks once again. Dave
