    3. Happy New Year :-) I am looking into a  brick wall at the moment and wonder if anyone can help? My grandmother Mary Findlay had an illigitimate child called Maggie Findlay (born 12 Dec 1901 in Rafford) with the reputed father being a labourer called John Watson. Maggie and her father went to Canada before 1907.  (This information I have from a poor relief application) The child would have been my grandfather's half sister.  I have had a go at searching records in the UK to no avail for Maggie.(only her birth can be found) Similarly passenger lists are not throwing up great clues - I cant find a John and Maggie travelling together.    I even tried searching the 1901 census to see if there was a John Watson staying near Mary Findlay! I did find a John Watson born 11 April 1878 in Rafford who was in the 1901 census at a bothy in Kinloss. The very long shot is that there is someone on the list who may have a john watson who travelled to canada with a young child (and without the child's mother) Here's hoping I'd love 2010 to be the year of less brick walls!! Best wishes Mandy  Mandy Wilson mandy.wilson@yahoo.com

    3. This is my advice......goggle Automated Genealogy.com and check the 1911 CAD census.......You likely won't find them on any immigration lists....they were British subjects, so wouldn't have had any problems coming into Canada. There is also a 1906 census on this same site, but only for some of the provinces....check that as well. I'll have a go from here.....good luck and Happy New Year.....toast to brick walls and the breaking down thereof....Goldie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mandy Wilson" <forsyth246@yahoo.com> To: <moray@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 02, 2010 3:43 PM Subject: [MORAY] Maggie Watson / Findlay Happy New Year :-) I am looking into a brick wall at the moment and wonder if anyone can help?
