Do you have any knowledge of your John Stewart haveing a brother or other close relative named James? I have a James Stewart born April 1831 in Boryland, Ardlach (parish of), Nairn and who lived his adult life and died October 1904 in Forres. Hello Ian I am not aware of any of John's siblings at all. I haven't found any so far. He was known as John STEWART or THOMPSON and that had me wondering if he was illegitimate. His mother was Jane THOMPSON. John did have a son James born 1871 so he could have been called after an uncle. John's children were: Marriage to Elizabeth MILNE - Eliza Ann 1863 George Frederick 1867 Alice Mary 1869 Alexander 1872 Children from marriage to Robina McLEOD:- Jessie McLeod STEWART 1872 William McLeod S 1874 Jean 1877 Christina 1879 - my grandmother.
