    3. I wrote to you saying this was not my Mary Ann but I have been wrong. I just wanted to say sorry for not believing you. Thank you ever so much I really apprecitae your thoughtfulness. I found Alexander McKenzie, he was a farmer, born 1860 He died March 13, 1933 at age 73. He has the same headstone as Jane Brodie Simpson. Place of death, Standingstone Alves. Now my search is on to find out who Mary Ann their daughter married. I know she was married to Samuel Hawthorne but why was her last name Geddes. Was she married to a George Geddes then he died, quite confusing........... I need to get the picture from the paper. That should be another challenge as I live in Canada. Thanks for all your help. 1. Re: [MORAY] McKenzie/Mitchell families of Elgin
    2. Yes I thought it was the right BIO! That's what confused me. What source gives Mary Ann the surname Geddes? If correct then there are a number of possibles ie She could have been previously or subsequently married to a Geddes ( her Death Certificate should give any previous marriage partner.) Or she may have been adopted. Her Birth Certificate may help there. Or she could have been born illegitimate .The Birth Cert again of help.Illegit children were usually named after their Father ie would take the father's surname rather than the Mothers.
