Dear Antonio It is entirely possible that you are descended from someone with the name Alves and/or who came from Alves. Not to say that you are,  but it is possible. Just take a look at all the places the Scots got to in the world and named either after themsleves or their town ! Maybe your ancestor was involved in a trade which brought him to Portugal as often happened (e.g wine merchant , sailor) . I looked at Libindx the Moray Council genealogical website and there are 12 people from Moray who died in Portugal - none with the surname Alves. And there are 105 people with the surname Alves , none of whom died in Portugal. I would have a google and see what you find. Good luck with your search.
