I have looked at the first page of the index of results and most of those were born in Moray, some in Alves itself. Of course this doesn't prove that you are lucky enough to have Scottish ancestors but at least you know that it is a Scottish surname! Between 1855 and 2006, 396 births were recorded with this surname. So it is a fairly uncommon surname but does exist. And there are a number of prominent Scottish families in the port making business in Portugal, aren't there eg the Cockburns.
