Peters mother was Ann Grant who married William Stuart,they lived at Rosemount Chapeltown. Anne died giving birth to Peter, her 5th child. Anne was the sister of James Grant, who was born 16 Aug 1839. Peters eldest brother,Thomas James Clark Stuart,went to live,after Annes death, with James Grant, at Farm of Pans at Elgin. T.J.C. Stuart was born in 1872. Would love to hear any info about the family, and hope to remain in contact with you.     3. Hello Diane, It was great to hear from you....and yes, you are related to my husband Alex...I would be interested in more details (dates etc) of Anne's family & descendents.... The James & Jane/Jean Grant that your T.J.C. Stuart stayed with at Farm of Pans would have been his grandparents.... Did you know that this James Grant was a distiller & worked with George Gow Smith at the Minmore Distillery at Auchorachan? The James Grant, born 16 Aug 1839, a brother of Anne....was also a distiller who went on to establish the Highland Park distillery in the Orkneys & so was quite well to do.....He was also a brother of my husband's gr-grandfather, Peter Grant b. 1834 who married Helen Gordon of Dufftown, they had 4 boys, and the family emigrated to Canada in 1872 as Peter worked on the railway system. I have a fair bit of information, as Alex's grandfather, Alexander Joseph Grant, wrote a history of both his parents families, the Grants & the Gordons... and am willing to share.
