    3. I have seen some post 1855 parish records ...original volumes ...which had been collected and were in the National Archives in Edinburgh ...but this was for south west Scotland. I don't know how widespread the collection of registers was. Might be worth a phone call to Edinburgh to find out. 3. Leonie...Rothes Records have been filmed but you can also see them in Edinburgh. All the Old Parish Records that exsist were to be turned in, and not left with the Parish. Some parishes after 1855 still recorded things, but mostly by the 1870's this had petered out. But most anything after 1855 you will find at Scotland's People. I have never seen the Forres info, but have viewed the Rothes records which I have some info on. If you send me a message on who you are looking for there, I'll see if I have anything. 3. Hello Leonie A few years ago I wrote to a church in Midlothian, hoping for information. The reply was that records were sent to Edinburgh for archiving. This was safer as the records were then kept at the right temperature, with no risk from dampness. Churches were often less secure and temperatures varied. Some churches did not partake in sending their records to Edinburgh but I suggest you do as Irene suggested and write to New Register House, Princes Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3YT. Sheila.
