    3. Hello Rhoda. Thank you for response. It was Donald ROBERTSON who married in 1904 in Plumstead. His age at marriage 25 (dob prob 1879). Father was another Donald ROBERTSON. In 1901C Donald Jr was lodging with his bride's family in Plumstead so no other family to work on. I suppose I shouldn't presume that William G was living in the south, he could have come just for the wedding? .............. and so wouldn't be there in 1901? As I say, a very long shot but I must follow every lead. The "G" initial in the witness' name and the extra Moray detail in the 1911C was tempting. I hoped by finding the right William G ROBERTSON's bap I would get Donald's. And if I'm on the right list, some descendants. Thank you again for the details and for your interest. I'll certainly work on those leads. Joan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "CandROverson" <overson12@btinternet.com> To: <moray@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 08, 2010 7:32 PM Subject: Re: [MORAY] William Gordon ROBERTSON born abt 1870 Hello Joan Can you just confirm the first name of the Robertson bridegroom who married into your Freelove family? Was it Donald? And what age was he? Trouble is ROBERTSON is such a commonly found name in Scotland. There were 10 William G Robertsons whose births were registered in Scotland between 1868 and 1872 - but none with the middle name GORDON. The nearest is a William Gardine Robertson whose birth was registered in New or East Kilpatrick in Dumbartonshire in 1872. 'Your' William may have added the middle name when he became a young man. It is probably a 'family' name; perhaps his mother's maiden surname.
