http://scotlandspeople.gov.uk had only a single birth for a Maggie J[essie] HARPER in 1898 in St Machar, Aberdeen. The index shows Maggie Jessie, but the register has the birth name as Betsy Scott HARPER b 16 Jan 1898 with an RCE and the birth was recorded on 25 Jan 1898. The parents are John HARPER and Janet INNES who is shown as deceased - married 8 Jan 1892 in Old Machar. There are three possibilities in 1895-1896 for the birth of John. -- Jo-Ann Croft
