Hello Ann. Donald Jr's father is shown as a Joiner on the cert. The fact you show the 1st Joiner has a son, William George, is interesting. But it could be another red herring. The child born in 1907 is Donald Gordon ROBERTSON. I'd like to keep the 2nd "Joiner" in Edinburgh as a "possible" too. Donald Jr was shown a Pattern Maker, worker, in 1901C Plumstead, Woolwich. Probably in the Arsenal factories. That was also his occupation when he got married. If I could find a death entry for Donald Jr between 1904 and 1911 I'd have no hesitation in getting a certificate but alas nothing in English freebmd that I could find. I don't have subs to ancestry. As he died so young I wonder if he had an accident. A VKS listed every Donald ROBERTSON in the Scot 1881C, born between 1778 and 1880, whatever relationship. There were 27. I'm so pleased you have at least narrowed it down to 9. I've ordered the baby Donald's birth cert but as there will be hundreds of requests to GRO by people rushing in before the price goes up to over £9 next month, it might take a while to come through. Thank you for your continued interest. Joan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anne Burgess" <anne.burgess@btinternet.com> To: <moray@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 07, 2010 8:22 PM Subject: Re: [MORAY] William Gordon ROBERTSON born abt 1870 > > What was Donald Sr's occupation according to Donald Jr's > marriage certificate? > > According to the LDS CD-ROMs there were seven Donald Robertsons > of roughly the right age in the 1881 census in Scotland with a > father also named Donald.
