While I never met George Watt face-to-face, he quietly gave me immeasurable help with my searches. Like the late and lamented Stuart Mitchell, George had a deep and encyclopedic knowledge, not only of the families, but also of their context: the local history, society, geography and religion of Glenlivet, Inveravon, the Cabrach, Mortlach and Aberlour. He was a living link to the auld fowk an thair weys. He will be missed by many.
