This gentleman could be Maggie's brother. Their parents, Thomas ANDERSON and Jane ALLAN, are not shown and further work is necessary to find out when they emigrated. Margaret (aged 19) is shown to be in Portsoy in the 1871 census, along with her parents; Thomas is shown to be a printer and publisher, so it could well be that Alexander Mackinnon BURGESS was an employee.
