The really intriguing thing is why this information should have been added to the Canongate RNE when John Milne was 46 years of age, and 35 years after the start of civil registration. Why so late, and why such a long way from home? Incidentally in 1881 he was described as an architect, unmarried, living with his sister Eliza, 55 and mother Catherine, 79, at 274 High Street, Forres. All three were born in Elgin. Anne
