Hi Goldie Re slaves with Scottish surnames. Many Black British who have come to Britain from the West Indies, have Scottish surnames. It is a result of, I am ashamed to say, the many Scottish slave owners on the sugar plantations. Many black West Indians were descended from the children of slave owners who were 'over friendly' with their female slaves. And I think that it was not uncommon for slaves to take on the surname of their owners.
