The US federal census is every 10 years from 1790 - 1930, except for 1890, which unfortunately burned. From 1790-1840, only the head of household is listed by name, with a count of his or her household and ages. From 1850, everyone is listed, and there are some different pieces of information in each different year, but usually at least age, occupation and state/country of birth, and in some years much more data.
