If your ancestors were members of Clan Chattan I just found a terrific resource that I highly recommend. It's an old handwritten manuscript of the Clan Chattan Genealogies written by a Macintosh some decades ago, which has been put on microfilm by the Mormons. It includes family trees for every branch and cadet of The Mackintosh, Shaw, MacBean, MacGillivray, Macqueen, MacPherson and Farquharson families of Scotland (some more complete than others). Very few birth/death dates but a whole lot of information on relationships and extensive handwritten notes on public records such as land transfers and court filings. It starts with Gillichattan Mor and the latest dates are in the 1860s although many of the trees stop in the early 1700s. Once I got used to reading the handwriting I found all sorts of goodies, including one lassie that had 5 husbands! No wonder we can't get them all straight. Your local Family History Center will be able to get it for you; the film number is 0277858 (www.familysearch.org, then search the Family History Library catalogue). Happy hunting! Laura
