Hi Ian This takes us back a bit. Do you have any other data on your grandmother Jesse Raff McQuiban's spelling of her given name? There was quite a correspondence at the end of last year about Jessie/Jesse and everyone [you know who you are!] tried to tell me that Jesse is ONLY used for males. We've found a number of sources which show that Jesse and Jessie can both be used for either sex, but I'm always on the look out for more unusual spellings. My maternal grandmother was Jesse Raff McQuiban born Forres 1896. My GGGG Grandparents appear to be William McQuiban (McQueban) and Elspet Anderson who were living at Whitemoss, Dallas when the 1811 Census was conducted. Is anyone else researching this particular McQuiban line? Ian Jackson
