My partner comes from Knockando and there are still Grants there. He has a Margaret Grant, married to William Allan in 1840. Is there any connection? Hi Anne My GGGM was Marion Margaret who married Alexander Davidson and lived in Elgin, but Margaret was obviously a family name (the dau of Alexander & Marion, my GGM, was Margaret Marion Davidson) and so there could have been another sister called Margaret. Have you found any information in the Moray database? I have just had a look at the "Statistical Accounts" for the parish of Knockando for 1791 and 1845 (well worth reading) which say the population was around 1300-1500 (bigger than I would have thought) - ie about 200 families and that the main names were Grant and Robertson - so there may have been 50-100 Grant families.
