Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me where Battle Sussex is. Helen Innes was my great aunt born 1869 at Craighead Farm in Glenlivet. The Libindx NM037987 says that she was married to a person named Dick. And that she died on the 2 Feb.1849 at the age of 80 in Battle Sussex. With ScotlandsPeople I have been able to narrow it down to three districts: Bothwell in Lanark, Cabrach in Banff and Aberdeen Northern District in Aberdeen. Did get the extract for Aberdeen Northern District but it says that her parents were Charles George Innes and Catherine Sinclair Innes ( Bremner ). This doesn’t appear to be mine. Can anyone help William in Montreal

William in Montreal asked: > Can anyone tell me where Battle Sussex is. Hi William Not too surprisingly it's at Battle in Sussex. Battle is a Village outside Hastings in the county of Sussex [now East Sussex], on the south coast of England. Battle is the site of a crucial battle in English [and presumably Canadian] history where the William, Duke of Normandy - known as the Conqueror - routed the forces of King Harold II of England. Come on, William! "The Battle of Hastings, 1066" must be the earliest reason why the French and English speakers in Canada are so much up each other!! Surely they must teach you that in Montreal?!?! :-)) Yours pedantically Ray Hennessy www.whatsinaname.net PS I'm part Irish so what do I know? ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Innes" <w.innes@sympatico.ca> To: <MORAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 08, 2005 2:16 PM Subject: [MORAY] Battle Sussex > Hi everyone. Battle will then be shown as it appeared in 1878. I would imagine that this could well be the place for which you are searching. Do you have any evidence that she could not have left Scotland?
