Hi Ray Thanks for the 1861 Census information. It confirms my thoughts that George Baillie Sr died sometime before 1861 and as I have not found his death on Scotlandspeople it suggests it was before 1855. So the possibilities have been reduced to a period of three or four years and that is a big help. Once again many thanks Ian
