The link below is from Multimap and gives the location of Battle, W Sussex. It is named after the Battle of Hastings. You know, King Harold and William the Conquerer, Bayeaux Tapestry etc. The high alter of Battle Abbey is supposed to be on the exact position where King Harold fell with an arrow in his eye. I've also put a link to a site for Battle info http://multimap.co.uk/map/browse.cgi?GridE=0.48770&GridN=50.91380&client=public&lon=0.48770&lat=50.91380&place=Battle,East+Sussex&db=freegaz&local=&type=&start=&limit=&overviewmap=&scale=100000&lang=&db=freegaz http://www.battle-sussex.co.uk/home/town.asp Happy hunting Carol Moray List Admin ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Innes" <w.innes@sympatico.ca> To: <MORAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 08, 2005 2:16 PM Subject: [MORAY] Battle Sussex Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me where Battle Sussex is. Helen Innes was my great aunt born 1869 at Craighead Farm in Glenlivet. The Libindx NM037987 says that she was married to a person named Dick. And that she died on the 2 Feb.1849 at the age of 80 in Battle Sussex. With ScotlandsPeople I have been able to narrow it down to three districts: Bothwell in Lanark, Cabrach in Banff and Aberdeen Northern District in Aberdeen. Did get the extract for Aberdeen Northern District but it says that her parents were Charles George Innes and Catherine Sinclair Innes ( Bremner ). This doesn’t appear to be mine. Can anyone help William in Montreal ==== MORAY Mailing List ==== MORAY OPR's. The OPR's for the Moray area are now starting to be transcribed and volunteers are needed.
