Howard, You have got it spot on. I have the unlinked Alexander GEDDIE married to Mary Anne FALCONER, with the son Wiliam, but in my main tree I have Alexander GEDDIE married to UNKNOWN with two children , Mary and William - Alexander is the son of William GEDDIE and Ann LAING (one of William's two wives, the second being Ann MOIR). This fills in the detail I have and means I can delete the unlinked group solving another mystery. Many thanks!
