I've done those searches as well and drawn a blank. Helen Innes married my ggg grandfather John Hay in Knockando in 1831. Another relative had some paid research done which gave her parents as John Innes and Sarah Welsted. According to Scotlands People website, her death certificate shows her parents as John Innes and Sarah Neilsted - the writing can be read either way. We are guessing her age by census records and her death certificate, which remained fairly regular over the years and lists her birthplace as Glenlivet. I can find no trace of her mother - I didn't think Sarah was really such a Scottish name and wondered if it was more English. I've tried every variation I can on her maiden name and drawn a blank. Her father is difficult because I have no idea of his age at death (I'm only guessing from when we believe Helen was born and making assumptions) and this also assumes that Helen's death certificate is accurate in him being alive. Have you seen the number of John Innes' in such a wide search! I would believe that they would have been Church of Scotland because we only know of one RC who married into the family many years later.
