You surmised a location in Inveravon (although I kind find it on no map, ancient or modern, nor in Census enumerations). Louise has offered you one in Inverness-shire, and I can contribute a "Slogan" in the Banffshire parish of Botriphnie, at map ref NJ389417. My Gaelic is extremely rudimentary, but I suspect that "Sluggan/Sloggan" may be part of the same name-family as "Sliochd" (on the A9 south of Inverness) and "Slug" (south of Aberdeen). Those both describe a high pass between hills, so there is a good chance of finding more such in the Highlands. Gavin Bell
