Hope all listers are in good health. Looking for parents and siblings of Janet MACKINTOSH born abt. 1787 and died abt. 1829. Janet married James CALDER 18 Dec 1807 Nairn. If you go by the Scottish naming pattern, her parents could have been Isabel and James MACKINTOSH but we have her husband's parents as Isabel LAMB and William CALDER. MACKINTOSH names appearing as witnesses to their children's christenings: Janet MACKINTOSH witness at the chr. of Janet CALDER b. 16 Nov 1810, Nairn (Janet was the second female child, Isabel was first). James MACKINTOSH witness at the chr. of Catherine CALDER b. 26 Jul 1816, Nairn (Catherine was the third female child) James MACKINTOSH witness at the chr. of Anne CALDER b. 8 Mar 1824, Nairn Alexander Gordon MACKINTOSH witness at the chr. of Alexanderina Gordon CALDER b. 29 Jun 1828. (I do not think that he was related as he was an Esquire and we were poor farmers!). From researching the internet, I ran across information that brothers married sisters. Alexander CALDER married Isabel MACKINTOSH James CALDER married Janet MACKINTOSH It is possible that Isabel and Janet were sisters but the home parish of James CALDER points to Nairn so far. In my limited knowledge of Scotland's traditions, the banns were read first in the bride's parish and then in the grooms. On the marriage of Alexander and Isabel, they were first recorded in Nairn and then in Inverness making Alexander from Inverness if I understand that correctly. And now I am rattling.................anyone searching for Janet MACKINTOSH in this timeframe born in Nairn, would very much appreciate hearing from you.
