Hello Jo-Ann, Thanks for your reply. I have been trying with familysearch.org to find the information that you sent me, but it comes up with nothing! I am new to all this, so I am probably doing all the wrong things. Would you tell me which site you used. Also your reference to libindx or libindex is it? Is that Scottish library index? That's interesting but I haven't found it and the census in Kildonan certainly looks promising but I haven't proved it yet. I did find four Joseph Taylor births in the whole of Scotland with the correct year. The one is Joseph Forsyth Taylor and I believe he is my gr.gr. grandfather. The other was from Aberdour, but Elgin I did not find and I can only assume that the 1881 census address was incorrectly written. Thank for your help and I would certainly be very glad of any other information or advice that you may have.
