    1. Re: [MORAY] Wm JAMIESON m.1720? Isabell MORTIMER/Geo JAMIESON m.1717? Marjory...
    2. Hi George The Bellie OPR shows: (1) William Jamison and Isabel Mortimer had seven children between 1720 and 1736. George born 1720, Burnside, christened 30 Jan 1720, witnesses George Jamison, Bogmoor and George Geddes in Auchinreath. John born 1722, Dryburn, christened 7 May 1722, witnesses John Miln, Culriach and John Mortimer, Glenrinnes. Andrew born 1724, Dryburn, christened 5 Jul 1724, witnesses Andrew Innes, Floods and Andrew Jamison, Bogmoor. William born 1727, Bogmoor, christened 12 Sep 1727, witnesses William Innes, Floods and William Robertson, Culriach. Thomas and Alexander (twins) born Dryburn, 1730, christened 11 Feb 1730, witnesses Alexander Innes and Nans Innes and Margaret Mitchell, Walheads (probably Wellheads). Margaret born Dryburn 1736, christened 30 Mar 1736, witnesses James Paterson, Cowiemuir, Robert Sherar, Bellie. (2) George Jamison and Marjory Gatherer had five children between 1717 and 1737. Margrat born Bogmoor 1717, christened 20 Jul 1717, witnesses Andrew Innes, Floods and William Gordon, Culriach Alexander born Bogmuir 1719, christened 26 Jul 1719, witnesses Al (Alexander ?) Morison, Floods and Al Innes, Dryburn. Elspet born Bogmuir 1727, christened 31 Jan 1727, witnesses William Robertson, Culriach, James Taylor, Bogmuir and William Jamison, Dryburn. John born Bogmuir 1731, christened 25 Sep 1731, witnesses John Gordon, Portioner, Upper Dallachie and John Annand Upper Dallachie. George born Bogmuir 1734, christened 15 Dec 1734, witnesses George Anderson, Dallachie, George Moor, Culriach and George Burges, Upper Auchinreath. Unfortunately, the Bellie OPR only goes back to 1709 for Births and 1723 for Marriages so I cannot give you any information regarding the marriages of these couples. The Speyside MIs pre 1855 (stone 143) shows Geo Jameson, fr N Dallachy 23.6.1780 61, w Kath Innes 29.6.1780 63, s Alex 6.2.1782 25, da Hellen 22.12.1789 30, ed by Jas Geddes in N Auchinreath their.........(rest of inscription hidden) John Jameson at Bogmoor 24.12.1910 86, w Helen Stewart 16.8.1908 82. This George would appear to be the son of William and Isabel and the John who died in 1910 would be his brother. The ages on the inscription do not exactly match the christening records in the OPR but this is not an uncommon occurrence. The MIs also list a John Jamieson, feuar Fochabers 28.5.1860 80, w Agnes Longmore 1848 60. s geo 3.3.1831 16. and T Smith esq surgeon Fochabers, w Jane 6.5.1837 50. gch inf (.......of John Jameson esq).....(rest of stone covered by broken headstone) Unfortunately, this does not give any positive links between the two couples although you will notice that they appear to have been witnesses at the christening of a child of the other which could indicate they were brothers or cousins. There is also an Andrew Jamison, Bogmoor shown as a witness at the christening of Andrew Jamison in 1730. I have noticed in my research of this Parish it was quite common for the witnesses at the christening of a son to have the same given name as the child being christened. While this also happened with daughters it was not so consistent. I hope this is of some use to you. Ian A C Scott
