Hi, I have a man who was a Tacksman at the 'Mains of Aberlour'. I found a definition of 'Mains' as 'the home farm of an estate'. What would the home farm of Aberlour have been in the mid-1700's? Thanks, Gay
Can you define Tacksman for me? My guess he's either a holder of a lease or tack, or a man who gives out leases or tacks.
