We wonder if anyone can help track a Robert THOMSON. Robert THOMSON was second in a complex line of that name He was baptised in Ordiquhill, Banffshire on 9 March 1844. The parents were Robert[1] THOMSON and Margaret WOOD Robert[2] THOMSON lived at Conland, Forgue until 1873. While there he and Ann SMITH had two children: Robert[3a] THOMSON [Sheena's g-gf] b 1867 William SMITH or THOMSON b 1870. Ann SMITH later had John Cumine SMITH, b 1874. She married James WILLOX, a widower, in Nov 1881 after due penance before the Forgue Kirk Session. By 1873, Robert[2] was a Police Constable in Jedburgh & married Margaret GRAY on 31 Dec 1873, Calton Glasgow. They returned to Roxburghshire and had four children: Jane E THOMSON, b 1875, St Boswells Robert THOMSON[3b], b 1878, Jedburgh Mary W THOMSON, b 1880, Yetholm Alex THOMSON, b 1882, Yetholm. Robert[2] was Superintendent of the Union Poorhouse in Kelso by 1901 and Margaret, his wife, was the Matron there. One of RT[3a]'s sons met one of RT[3b]'s in Kelso in the 1920s and many locals said how alike they were!! Strong genes! We can find no death certificate for Robert THOMSON[2]. He was ??alive in 1924 but where/when he died is a mystery. We've tried all likely DCs on Scotland's People but no luck. If anyone out there is related to these Robert THOMSONs we would love to hear from you, and perhaps even find out what happened to Robert[2] & his Roxburghshire children. Any help would be very much appreciated. Ray & Sheena Hennessy www.whatsinaname.net
