There seems to be a lot of confusion as I had posted my replies to the questions off list. The new message board has nothing to do with Rootsweb and is an addition to the website that I have so that none Rootsweb listers can view and post messages and therefore, there is no cross messaging from these messages to this list. I am admin to other mailing lists and have website noticeboards for some of them. They work well, some listers do not wish to leave a message or notice there, while other mailing listers do post often - hoping to catch a connection with a none Rootsweb list subscriber or none Rootsweb message board contributor. You would be surprised how many people have still not heard of Rootsweb but do pick up the Moray section of my site on search engines (even though the Rootsweb link is prominent) Would it be less confusing if it was called a noticeboard or a pinboard, as you leave notes and messages on either. The whole idea of me setting the 'noticeboard' up was for the benefit of others and the message to the list was to inform you all of another available option and was in no way suggesting that you used one or the other. Carol Admin Moray Mailing List www.wakefieldfhs.org.uk/morayweb ps messages posted to this list do not appear on the sister messageboard but messages on the board do appear automatically on this list and replies do not show up on the noticeboard only through the list system. You reply via the link supplied on the email, the messageboard will get your reply and so will the mailing list. So it is handy to keep visiting both the board and the archives of the list - occasionally ! ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Watt" <gwatt30@hotmail.com> To: <MORAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 16, 2004 6:28 PM Subject: Re:[MORAY] List vs Board > Hi Gavin & et al, > Perhaps I am mistaken but I thought it was the other way around ??
