Good Morning List; Some time ago when searching for names in the Parish of Duffus, a friend who was helping me sent me this little gem, it may explain why you can't locate certain marriages in the area if that is part of your research; I quote; MINUTES IN DUFFUS O.P.R. OF MARRIAGES. The late Minister, the Rev. Mr John Gordon and his immediate predecessor, having been quite irregular in their celebration of marriages for the last 20 years -- often performing the nuptial ceremony without any proclamation of Banns at all, and sometimes too, even pending the publication, and that without requiring the customary certificate - -the Session Clerk became so disgusted with such irregular and disorderly conduct as to discontinue the Marriage Register entirely for the period above stated.
