    3. Morning Chris, It seems strange talking to you of Riach's instead of Binns. I am replying to the list as you did send a message there too. This is the info I have on this couple - not a lot and not connected to mine yet ! Patrick Taylor b c1718 married to Margaret Riach b 1722 no marriage date Their children were Elspeth 1744, Anerew 1749, Mary 1753, Patrick 1750, Thomas 1747 and Margaret 1760. From these children the only one that I have as marrying was Thomas who married a lady called Margaret Grant in 1782. You may already have this info regards from a sunny but 'cool' West Yorkshire Carol Admin Moray Mailing List www.wakefieldfhs.org.uk/morayweb ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Ridings" <tutu@atu.com.au> To: <MORAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 20, 2004 7:37 PM Subject: [MORAY] RE: Riach; Duncan > One of my ancestral-outlaws was a Margaret RIACH who married Patrick > TAYLOR > who was baptised on 29 April 1725 in Rathven, Keith, Banffshire. > > Another was Isabel DUNCAN (d1864) who married Theodore LESLIE (1799-1864), > born at Ordiquill, Banffshire. > > Does this connect anywhere to the MBP or to anyone else? > > Chris Ridings > > > -----Original Message----- > From: carol@wakefieldfhs.org.uk [mailto:carol@wakefieldfhs.org.uk] > Sent: Monday, 20 December 2004 10:29 > To: MORAY-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: ROTHES RESEARCHERS NEW ANDERSON WEB SITE > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Riach, Younie, Ogg, Duncan, Petrie, Stronach, Innes, Mitchell + > More > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BgC.2ACI/1251.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Hi, looked at your websire, will add a link on my site > www.wakefieldfhs.org.uk/morayweb shortly, but --- > > I notice that you have Riach and Younie entries. 3. I have one DAVIDSON in my tree. Isabella DAVIDSON, the second wife of my 4th Great Grandfather. She was born about 1822 in Rathven and married John OLIVE on 7/9/1845 in Boharm, Moray. I don't know anymore about her except for the 1881 census and 4 children. John OLIVEs first wife died I think but have no confirmation, I dont imagine they were divorced back then! Best wishes for the festive season to everyone. Merry Christmas, only 4 sleeps to go (as my son says!). Julia Dundee, Scotland

    3. > Would anyone know if there are any lists of divorces and or illegitimate > children in Moray, specifically, Inveravon, Banff. I doubt it. Divorce wasn't an option at all until the middle of the 19th century unless you could afford to get an Act of Parliament dissolving your marriage. Many, but by no means all, births of illegitimate children generated entries in the minutes of the Kirk Session. Most of the surviving Kirk Session records are in the National Archives of Scotland (www.nas.gov.uk - but it seems to be having a Christmas holiday, all that comes up is a page saying "Coming back soon". We think the two were married while the children from the first marriage were young. On Jane Riach's death record it lists her son as Alexander Anderson who was born to Christina MacKay. We think Christina died in child birth. As for The Younie name, I am not sure if we are related to any Younie's. I have contacted a relative over in England who is descended off of Margaret's line, she might know and I will try to get back to you. I think it might have been a family friend but let me see what my relative has to say. Talk to you later Charles Anderson

    2. It's wonderful to see interest in Davidson once more. My Davidsons lived in Buckie, Banffshire and my own line goes back to Alexander Davidson, born c. 1779 died 16 Jan., 1850 and was married to Catherine Murray, born c. 1779 and died 21 Feb., 1844 Alexander is supposed to have had six or seven brothers, three being Hugh, John and Thomas. I've never been able to find anything on any brothers but know that their father, possibly named Thomas, died 28 March, 1803. Their mother died 5 Feb.1815. I don't know their first names. I would appreciate anybody contacting me who may have something connecting anywhere.
