    3. Hi David I was intrigued by your reference to June ADAM, born at the end of the 18th century. According to the Oxford Names Companion, June as a girl's name was a 20th century coinage. Can you let me know which parish she was born in? I've added a note to my website! 3. Hi again everyone. I’m re-posting in the hope that there are Kemps out there and that they will find a link with William Kemp and Jane or Jean McKay. According to the marriage extract dated 25 Jul.1865 it shows that Jane was 25 but I think she was actually 28 based on the McKay records that I have. It is shown that Jane was from Knockandhu, Glenlivet and that William was from Drum of Carrow in Aberlour ( not sure if I copied that down right.) Any help greatly appreciated. William in Montreal 1. 2. Hi, Thanks to the Libindx System, I finally found when my g-g-g-grandmother (Anne Kennedy McArthur) died (10 June 1854) and where she was buried (Elgin Cathedral). I know from the 1871 census that her husband James McArthur died 6 October 1877 at Partick near Glasgow, where his daughter Charlotte lived with her husband Francis Thomson. However, I do not have census information on this family from 1851 or 1861. (In 1841, they were in Inverness.) Does anyone have access to the 1851 census? If so, is this family (see below*) near Elgin? I would very much appreciate a look-up. Thanks, Pat ---------------- *Looking for descendents of James McARTHUR, butler at Holme 1826-37?, possibly born 1799, married in 1823 to Elizabeth MACKINTOSH at Croy, INV, and to Anne KENNEDY in 1833 at Croy. 3. Jocelyn, You are indeed correct as far as his birthcert entry is concerned! He was illegitimate and his mother, Elizabeth Mcpherson, was the informant that registered his birth. I am not sure where the Harold middle name came from but perhaps his mother was prividing a clue as to who his father was. Elizabeth subsequently married an Alexander Duncan c. 1885 in Rothes but I have not found this family in the 1891 Census. Peter McPherson and Elizabeth (Stuart) are my g-g-grandparents through their daughter Anna Maria McPherson. I have copies of the relevant birth & marriage certs. if you are interested. 3. Hi Tony: I could not find any TAYLOR's in this tree. This is not my tree but one that I downloaded because it connects to my Isabella CALDER (1809-1894) -b. Nairn -m. James FORSYTH (1808-1879) b. Duffus. The author had a couple of interesting notes for my line that I have not been able to "prove" <g>. Could not find their marriage but did find the christening of their first child, Janet FORSYTH b. Nairn 1831. The family emigrated to Canada in 1849 on the ship Birbice. From the notes in this tree, James' oldest brother was named William. Apparently, the land was going to pass to William and that was given as his reason for emigration. Also noted on this tree is that James and Isabella first settled in a town named Hopeman in the Parish of Duffus prior to seeking better fortune in Canada. James FORSYTH and Isabella CALDER had seven children prior to their date of emigration. I am not sure if all of the children went over with them as I have the 1851 Census record for this family - Haldimand, Ontario - and it only lists children numbers 5 through 8. They could not have been well off - their home is described as a "shanty". This tree, however, lists that they all emigrated at the same time. It is a rather extensive tree. As an example one of the notes for William FORSYTH (1590 - WFT Est.) (29th generation) states that he was Lord of the Dykes (Forres) successor of his father (David) Commissioner of Parliament for Forres in 1621. It goes on to say that his son, James FORSYTH (abt. 1620 - WFT Est.) founded the family branch known as FORSYTH's of Cromarty and Elgin. There were three Margaret's in this tree but born 1705, 1723 and 1756. I am sure there were probably countless others named Margaret but not included in this particular tree. Really wish that I could have you. Sherry
