I'm Phillip, Dawn's husband -she is the researcher! Quite excited by your potential info as I have little if any details of the Riach's. I can confirm however: My father was Colin SG Chalmers ---- His mother was Isabella Riach-she married Colin Chalmers. Isabella (or Dolly or the Duchess as she was known)parents were William (*) Riach and Helen Mann I have Wm's(*) parents as William Riach(**) and Isabella Palmer---- This William (**)'s parents I have recorded as Alexander Riach and Margaret Gillies, we cannot find them on the census together, nor a marriage record? We have a birth entrance (1860) which states this Wm (**) is illegitimate. On Helen Mann's line we have, born Oct 15th 1880 to father John Mann & Jessie Mann (formerly Wilson). John & Jessie married in 1877 in May. John was a butcher (flesher), his father Charles had also been a butcher. His mother was Lillie Donald. Will await your response. Author: Forfarian Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.mor.general/2327.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There isn't a full UK BMD site. If you mean FreeBMD, or its mirror on Ancestry, this is exclusively for England and Wales. For Scotland, the authoritative and most comprehensive site is www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk which isn't free, but has the advantage that you can download images of actual certificates. The International Genealogical Index (IGI) at www.familysearch is free, and has good but not comprehensive coverage until about 1875, but not any later than that. There are some sites with BMD information, but they're very hit and miss as they depend on people having submitted information, and then still being contactable. I think http://www.sctbdm.com/ is the best one of these. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [MORAY] Anne Innes
    2. William
    3. Hi. I just looked-up the name Jane on Ray H's site and it tells me that the synonym is Jean. I'm trying to find the parents of Anne Innes who married Charles Stephen on the 17 Aug.1815 in Inveravon. Anne DE tells us that her parents were John Innes and Jane Gordon. When I tried to find a family for John & Jane using the ( IGI ) ( Family Church ) and it give me the family of John Innes and Jean Gordon where their last known born was Robert Innes born 22 Oct.1769 at Chapel Christ and for the moment it is assumed that they moved elsewhere. This assumption is based on the facts that my ancestor William Innes ( confirmed ) was a tenant at Chapel Christ in 1774( Duke of Gordon records ) and it is known that he married in 1770 Elizabeth McDonald. The IGI does not list any children but there was at least 1 child named Alexander confirmed by his DE in 1861. Getting back to Anne Innes, her DE shows that she died on the 14 Dec.1864 in Tomnavoulin at the age of 86 years thus making her date of birth at <1778>. So far I have not been able to find a BE for her. Libindx NM079217 shows that Anne death was shown in the Current on the 29 Dec.1864, Page 8 Column 6. I seem to have hit a brick wall as to where Annie Innes and Charles Stephen were buried. William

    1. [MORAY] GRANT & MCKENZIE
    2. Greetings List I am new to this list and my interest is of a picture I have of two gorgeous young ladies who were apparently friends of my dearly beloved departed mother, Charlotte Rawlins of Hudson County, New Jersey. One the back of the photo is written "Betsy Grant age 16 and Catherine McKenzie age 17 1/2" and on the top of the photo is written "Louisouth, Morayshire, Scotland", please note, I could be mistaken of the writing but this is what it appears to be. My mother was born in New Jersey in 1926 so I'm assuming these ladies are the same age bracket of my mother. I would love to find family of these two fine ladies to send this picture to and hope I am subscribing to the right list. If not, please suggest which list(s) I should subscribe to in hopes of finding family / friends of these young ladies.
