Author: datmitty Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.religious.moravian.moravian/362.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you Andrew. I am looking for the marriage record(s), place of burial, and children's names for David Galbraith who was born in 1816 and died May 19, 1906 in Kilkeel. The Ireland Census of 1901 lists his religion as Moravian, so I am hoping he was a member of the Kilkeel Moravian Church. He was my great great grandfather and one of his son's, John Galbraith (later changed to Gilbraith), emigrated to the U.S. in 1867. According to family stories, he had a brother who sailed to the U.S. with him, but died en route and was buried at sea. I do not know his name and the ship passenger list does not include his name, which I am told is not uncommon for those who perished at sea, and the passenger list only includes those who arrived in the U.S., not who left on the ship from Ireland. Thus, the desire to find David Galbraith's children's names. I believe there was a son named Samuel, who stayed in Ireland, and I have found some references to a James Galbraith, but haven't bee! n able to verify the relationship. Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated. Dee Ann Thompson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I think it very possible that John Solt (b. 1802) and Salome/Sarah (b. 1804) who ultimately ended up for a time at Weissport and eventually (he at least) died at the Zion United Church of Christ in Lehighton where many of the Weissport families moved when that church grew too big and split. The problem I am having is that I think John and Salome got married about 1824 and was wondering what happened to the Gnadenhuetten congregation during that time period (early records stop about 1800). I noticed that you said that the remnants of the Gnadenhutten ended up in Lehighton. Any ideas which church they are and where records for 1800-1830 or so might be? Any help would be appreciated.
