Leslie, I don't remember a gas station and grocery store at that intersection (Hwys 24 & 63) but I do remember a gas station and restaurant. In fact, there were two across the street from each other. In the NE corner was Dorsey's and the SE corner was Reed's Corner. I know that Reed's Corner was owned by Clyde Reed, but I don't know who owned Dorsey's. (Just now remembered. It was Kanatzers) A few blocks South on Morley (Bus. 63) there was a Hudson Service Station. In fact, my husband mentions it every now and then. It was there when he first came to Moberly in 1947 or 48. In the early to mid 40's I lived just one block South of it on the corner of Morley and Chandler Sts. across from the Hosiery Mill. Thanks. Shirly. I didn't even realize that I had said grocery. I had intended to say restaurant. Reed's corner. That's it. My grandfather owned the building and contents but leased it out. So, he did not own the business itself. And, I did not remember whether or not the restaurant and the gas station were together or not. Evidentally, they were not together. I love having the butcher's block from the restaurant... just because it had belonged to my grandfather, Leslie Hudson. Glad to help, Leslie. As I recall Bob Sauer ran the restaurant and Herschel Thompson ran the station. They were both in the same building separated only by a glass door between them.
