Jane Debellis made a great recommendation regarding the search for locations of our ancestors in Randolph County, which I'm sharing below. Thanks Jane! Many of my ancestors on my mother's side settled in Missouri between the early 1810's and the 1860s I've had some success finding information on the whereabouts of their initial properties from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management site that shows land patents at http://www.glorecords.blm.gov. Just be sure that you try several spellings of names. For instance Isaac and Michael Stipp are my great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather but the spelling of the last name in the land patent record is Stip not Stipp as I have always seen it otherwise referred. Try removing consonants and change vowels (like I to E). They have the early deeds on microfilm. They can help you find where Christopher Hinton lived. Once you have that info, you will then have a better opportunity to figure out where he is buried. Best of luck! I was hoping someone could help me before I get there. My gggGreat Grandfather Christopher Hinton moved to Randolph County sometime between 1830 and 1842. I do not know where in the county he lived. All I have for records that connect him to Randolph County are a census record and his probate record (he died intestate in 1842). Neither one specify a town. So not only do I not know where he lived, but I have no idea where he was buried. Last time I stopped by Randolph County I looked around Eads Chapel Cemetery and also another cemetery (I don't know the name of it) that was on the same road, but closer to the veterans cemetery. I didn't find Christopher in either cemetery, but I found another relative in Eads Chapel. I'm not quite sure where to begin. What records can I use to find out where where he might have lived or what cemetery he was buried in? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
