I've been abstracting items of genealogical merit from the Huntsville Herald for a second volume of Randolph co, MO Newspaper Abstracts, and I just came upon this article, which I thought was particularly interesting. I'd love to find out of this adoptee made it to manhood. Enjoy! July 2, 1891 Pg. #2: A basket containing a baby 8 or 10 days old was left on the door step of W.T. Botts at Higbee last Thursday night. It is believed to have been the child of a couple who got off of the north bound train at that point that evening, and boarded the next train for Bloomington, IL. The child was adopted by Mrs. John Herron.
