My reply: ’ll try to liven things up a bit with a discussion bout my dead relatives. If the song “I Want a Girl Just Like the Girl that arried Dear Old Dad,” published 1911, had been ublished earlier I can imagine my Great-Grandfather ardin (m. 1878) singing it. My question: Is it ossible to determine a blood relationship between his other (maiden name Susan Hubbard) and his wife maiden name Sarah Nannie Hubbard)? Subsidiary questions: Who were the parents and randparents of Susan Hubbard who was born in Virginia n 1818 and who married Ben Hardin (1810-1879)? Who ere the parents of Nannie’s Grandfather Joel Hubbard b. abt 1803 in Garrard Co., KY) who migrated to andolph Co., MO abt 1826? I have a 1910 Randolph Co. Plat book and I believe hope my imagination’s not playing tricks on me) I ave seen earlier plat maps, one of which shows a mall plot of land about 4 miles south of Renick in wp 52N, Range 13W at one time being owned by a Moses ubbard and an adjacent small plot owned by one of the sa Hubbards. And a later plat map, but earlier than he 1910 plat map shows at least one of these two ormer Hubbard plots being owned by Ben Hardin. Rootsweb database jupep shows Asa K. “Arch” Hubbard born in VA) died in 1878 about 4 miles south of enick, MO leaving a widow whose maiden name of uthersia "Priscilla" Gooch. Arch and Priscilla had a randdaughter named Susan Hubbard (b. 1841) but did hey also have a daughter named Susan Hubbard? Other Rootsweb databases also show Asa K. Hubbard ying possibly in Randolph Co., MO but they show his other rather than his wife with the maiden name ooch(ee) and a first name as Lu Thursa (sounds a lot ike Luthersia). Those databases (e.g. rnrhughes) how Lu Thursa married Hardy Hubbard. The jupep database shows Asa K. “Arch” Hubbard’s son sa K. Hubbard married to Martha Owen, sister of Ben ardin’s second wife Elizabeth. There’s no dearth of marriages between Hubbards and ooches but I think all but the aforementioned above re New England marriages and some of those involve en named Moses Hubbard. From the early days in the outhern portion of the eastern seaboard there were umerous Moses Hubbards as well as people with the urname Gooch and they migrated westward. Now to shift gears to another Gooch connection to my amily tree, one that is less tentative. My randmother Hardin was a granddaughter of Stephen and argaret (Kimbrough) Brockman sister of John Stuart imbrough of Roanoke who was the husband of my randmother Hardin’s Great Aunt. Margaret Kimbrough’s C1R William Kimbrough was the husband of Elizabeth ooch whose sister Nancy Gooch was a grandmother of .S. Senator Thomas Hart Benton and a gg-grandmother f Missouri artist Thomas Hart Benton. I’ve seen this ooch family has roots in America back to the id-1600s. -- Ben Hardin ------------------------------ o unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MORANDOL-request@rootsweb.com ith the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of he message
