I'd really like to thank the marvelous listers who have responded tremendously over the past few days. I've met several new cousins, found cemeteries, and whetted my appetite for coming to Missouri in June for more research. [I live in CT.] Now, here is my favor. My mother is Mary Eleanor [Warford] DuBois. So far as I know, she is not yet a member of this list. She will be rounding that 80-year mark [shhhh, don't tell her I told] in June and I want to surprise her with a lot of genealogy on her side of the family. You see, for years my mother worked tirelessly on my father's genealogy, figuring she could do her own "someday" rather easily. I joined in the hunt two years ago. But until the past few weeks, we had done virtually nothing on her lines which all go back in Missouri several generations before leaving the state to mostly KY. Now her memory is fading a bit, and of course a lot of cousins have passed on. Now, if my mother joins this list, please act ignorant, okay?? I'll try to steer her questions in some way. Give her a little bone here and there. I'm just trying to keep it a surprise how much info I have while also trying to encourage her to remember all those important details. And here is a big favor. If anyone here has relatives who lived in Madison, MO during the depression, they probably knew the Warfords. Would love to hear from them. Also, anyone who might have gone to Central Methodist in Fayette in the early 40s. [My dad, H.L. DuBois, went there, too.] They settled in Marshall in the 50s, which is where I was born and raised before leaving for the "East Coast" in the 70s. Thank you, and again, "mum's the word" in more than one way.... Elizabeth DuBois Russo Simsbury, CT
Probably not much help but there were also Warford's in the Higbee, Randolph County, Mo area. I can remember visiting my parents and attending a funeral with then, probably in Howard County. The deceased was a Warford and his brother was the officiating minister. Could have been New Hope Cemetery in Howard Couny south of Higbee, but not sure as this was probably in the early 1960's.
